Safe project deployment in Western Ukraine
Initial situation
An international mechanical engineering company planned to deploy its own employees as part of a long-term industrial project in western Ukraine. Despite the distance from the front line, risks from Russian airstrikes, critical infrastructure dependencies, and organizational challenges in emergency management persisted. The planned project period spanned several months with fluctuating staffing levels.
Implementation
Result Group supported the client from the outset with an on-site site survey, followed by the development of a security concept tailored to the local situation. Operational implementation was carried out through preparatory webinars, on-site briefings, the provision of evacuation options, and project-specific security monitoring.
Preparation and training
In a webinar, all deployed employees were comprehensively informed about risks, recommended behavior, and emergency procedures. The content was based on the current situation assessment and included, among other things, behavior in the event of an air raid, supply security, and orientation in urban areas.
On-site briefing
At the start of the project, a personal briefing was conducted at the site. Safe spaces, alternative routes, and local conditions were inspected together with the employees. The goal was to ensure orientation in an emergency and enable decision-making skills even under stress.
Evacuation structure
A coordinated evacuation solution has been set up in case of need – including a standby vehicle with a three-hour response time and a defined route to the Romanian or Polish border. In addition, a 24/7 hotline has been set up for self-recovery by employees.
Security monitoring
Continuous monitoring provided situational information on security-relevant events in the region and on transit routes. A situation summary was provided every two weeks, and critical incidents were reported daily.
Outcome
Thanks to the early situation analysis and the coordinated security concept, the project was carried out without any safety-related incidents. The employees had a reliable basis for decision-making and clearly defined options for action in the event of an emergency.
Safe and fast CEO business trip to Kyiv
Customer and challenge
The managing director of a medium-sized company was invited to a conference in Kyiv, Ukraine. Due to his high workload, a visit lasting several days was not possible. Due to the closure of Ukrainian airspace, travel is only possible by land. The travel time from the Polish-Ukrainian border to Kyiv is around 12 hours. Result Group was therefore commissioned to provide logistical and operational support in order to keep the travel time short and to ensure the protection of the managing director.
Implementation
Result Group carried out a comprehensive risk analysis and, on this basis, developed a security concept including an evacuation concept for the traveler.
To implement the security and evacuation concept, a security advisor, a driver and a vehicle were provided to accompany the managing director throughout the entire trip, while the Result Group experts monitored the current security situation and the movements of the travelers.
The traveler was picked up from an airport in Poland by a team consisting of a driver and a security advisor. Result Group identified the border crossing with the shortest waiting time and planned an appropriate route.
Situation observation and monitoring
The security situation was monitored three days in advance, with a focus on the routes that had been worked out. At the start of the trip, the team's travel movements were constantly monitored. As a result of the monitoring, the Security Advisor received regular updates on the security situation and current developments.
Outcome
The comprehensive support enabled the CEO to travel to Kyiv and back quickly, smoothly and safely.
Escorting journalists in Ukraine
Initial situation
Reporters in a war zone are exposed to a much higher risk than other business travelers due to their job. They have to remain flexible and mobile. A German television station reported from all parts of Ukraine with several teams over two years.
Implementation
In preparation, Result Group conducted a Hostile Environment Training (HEAT) with the reporters, provided protective equipment and vehicles during the operation and supported them with on-site security advisors as well as extensive situation and traveler monitoring over the entire duration of the operation.
Training
Before the first deployment, a five-day HEAT was carried out with the teams. This was specially adapted to the local conditions and the journalistic work.
Situation observation and monitoring
Constant monitoring of the security situation and travel movements allowed the deployed security advisors to accompany the reporting and reduce the risk to an acceptable level without restricting the work of the journalists. Regular updates on the development of the situation were made available to the security advisors and journalists as a basis for planning routes and filming.
Logistics support
Result Group implemented the entire logistics of the traveling reporters: airport transfers from neighboring countries, provision of vehicles and, if necessary, specially protected vehicles.
Security management
A security advisor was appointed to take over all security-related tasks and maintained permanent contact with Result Group.
Outcome
The support of Result Group enabled journalists to report from Ukraine for over two years without any incidents.
