German companies and their top management have been the targets of Russia's multiple warfare not only since the assassination plans on Rheinmetall boss Armin Papperger became known. Germany functions as a logistics hub for NATO and, with its military-industrial complex, is logical top target of hybrid attacks.
In well-informed security circles, it is no longer a secret that the investigation into potential targets of attacks is in full swing in Germany too. As yet unexplained incidents, such as the fire at the arms manufacturer Diehl, the arson attack on Papperger's garden shed or the spying on military and industrial sites by two German-Russians, are seen by security experts as the Harbingers of further potential attacksthat could still be in store for us in the coming weeks and months. “What we are seeing now is the tip of an iceberg!” Security expert Walfried O. Sauer fears that with increasing support for Ukraine by the Allies, the Attack risk on people and corporate values will increase significantlyHowever, he does not only see the big names in the defense industry in focus, but also mostly medium-sized suppliers and their representatives. In his opinion, these companies in particular do not have their own security department, as is usual in large corporations, but are mostly completely "blank" in this area! These companies are less security-conscious and therefore "easier prey".
Axel Wochinger, managing director of the consulting company Result Group GmbH, based in Pöcking on Lake Starnberg and specializing in risk and crisis management, also reports a massive increase in audits of companies and preventive protective measures for exposed persons since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict. His credo: "To get ahead of the situation through prevention and counter-intelligence, to be prepared for emergencies with a functioning crisis team and thus to prevent worse things from happening."
